Well, Mikhail was raised, trained and well fed by the order until the last months where he fled with Almonde, meanwhile Laz was raised in an isolated orphanage and had to flee very young and since then lived as a largely self-taught errant hunter living day-to-day, so no wonder that he didn't got his "dad"'s bulk.
