Well, it's a trade-off. More skin = less defense, higher dodge. Less skin = higher defense, lower dodge. In general at least. If you look into RPGs that actually use weight as speed modifiers, it makes sense. Also works in skins vs shirts football/rugby matches.
But hey, why rationalize something as awesome as that?

Celtic warriors sometimes did that to show they had no fear. If I saw 500 angry men with swords and spears running towards me buck naked, I'd be running the other way as fast as I can...

I wouldn't quite trust a series that features a man who shoots bees at you using a gun that is also made of bees for real life combat information.
