So there goes the fandom making kagerou into Momiji 2.0. It would seem that some parts of the fandom cannot handle the fact that Wolves are not dogs so they make all wolf-based characters into dogs.

Yea last time I checked wolves are vicious animals who will not go running after some damn bone but will try and maul you instead. Touhou fanon fails again.

Momiji didn't have anything to begin with, she was just a midboss that appeared on screen for 30 seconds, she didn't even have a portrait or dialogue. Must have been the animal ears.

Not like this joke happens in other places or anything.

Double Spoiler & Symposium of Post-mysticism.
No in-game dialogue, and only a picture or two of her in Symposium, but still some background information and whatnot. Just Shayin, yo.
Well... we can't say we didn't see this comming... anything with cat or wolf ears instantly are portrayed as cute and submissive instead of their fierce canon traits...

Not that surprising, really. Werewolves... basically a wolf with human traits, that's pretty much a dog, according to Discworld.

Mid-bosses like Shizuha and Kisume got better "official material" treatments than her, yet they aren't popular, so I think it's safe to say that animal ears are what made Momiji popular. After all, furry animal girls are popular on the Internet...

Well, I think that a character's relationships also help on this matter. Kisume and Shizuha don't have any "famous" relationships (Same with Rumia, but at least she has some appeal due to team 9, her supposed EX form and the whole darkness-human-eating-monster thing that suits well for a youkai), while Momiji has her connections with Aya, which is a very popular character. Same with Ran and Chen, who are mainly known because they are Yukari's shikigami, or Daiyousei and Koakuma, that not even have an official profile but are connected to Cirno and the SDM.
