I wonder if the Japanese realize how kitsch this sort of thing is to Westerners. Then again, I wonder how American's random and often inappropriate use of kanji on t-shirts, posters, tattoos, etc. appears to the Japanese. For instance, there's a car in my building's parking lot with a seat cover that has the symbols 安 智 and a third one I haven't been able to make out yet printed on it.
