Incidentally, we'd intended to take the Isewangan Expressway, so I set that into my car navigation system, but my nav-system doesn't include the Shin-Tōmei Expressway, so we were getting BS directions the whole time we were traveling along it. I therefore told her in advance, "You don't have to listen to what the nav-system tells you," so she ignored the junction to the Isewangan and took the Meishin Expressway.
Well, I gave directions poorly, so it couldn't be helped. :-)
