It's anime it's not suppose to make sense, even though if it did it would probably be ten times better.
The grip is very far to the back, attached directly to the butt, and at an acute angle so that it goes _forward_ in the direction of the barrel, instead of being opposed to it. And to worsen it yet, the handgrip is not shaped properly to provide rest for the purlicue (the space between the thumb and index finger) and thumb, so good grip is impossible. If you have ever fired a revolver, you should know that even with a well-shaped, opposing handgrip it's rather hard to control because it's mounted to the butt; with such a horrible misdesign as we have here, it'd be downright impossible to fire it without the kickback wrecking your wrist.
