I must say, this is perhaps my favourite variation of the new Iowa. Iowa with some actual semblance of clothes is far more alluring than that 'working girl' design.
And USS Lexington(CV-16),USS Yorktown(CV-10),USS Hornet(CV-12),USS Intrepid(CV-11) and USS Midway(CV-41). While Intrepid and Hornet was retired in 1960s-1970s,Lexington and Midway kept on trucking until after Gulf War.

I gotta agree with you. This design still has an allure I find appealing without being too showy.
By 1984, Iowa will be the only girl left from the original crew in the Kancolle world.
What do you mean By 1984, She is still in Los Angeles harbor. Actually I wonder what she thinks of her Hull as she Is the Only ship girl to my knowledge to still be afloat.

Just think of it this way, since she is now a museum ship, she is there tellin' stories of the battles during her time to the children who is eagerly listening with excitement :D
Outlive the longest lasting of the Japanese shipgirls....Yukikaze.
The only one who could match that on that side would be Mikasa. And a 1900 era battleship is something that would be weak in game. She'd be Kongo's mother or grandmother based on technological battleship developments (pre-dreadnoughts, dreadnoughts, super-dreadnoughts. Kongo was a battlecruiser version of a super-dreadnought).

"Listen up you young whippersnappers, back in my day we didn't have any of that fancy-schmancy computer generated, laser guided, satellite assisted crap. We had to do it all manually and we liked it! Oi, get off my lawn!"

*ahem*
The tower on the bow of the Iowas today is for communication with Satellites, and the Tomahawks/Harpoons were controlled by computers. Actually, the Iowa had a fairly luxurious analog fire control computer that actually manages to out-do modern computers in its range, so they really never did have to do everything manually.

Infact, there is a photo that shows both Iowa and Midway sailing together in the Persian Gulf in 1987.
