Shouldn't "inko" be translated to "parakeet" or "budgie" instead of "parrot"?
According to my dictionary sources, it translates as "true parrot (esp. small parrots such as the parakeet, lory and conure)", so either is acceptable. "Parakeet" would probably work better in context, I imagine. (I'm no ornithologist, of course.)
How the heck can he not clean the keyboard more often. Even reading it sends chill down my spine.

Some keyboards simply cannot be cleaned. Scissor switch keyboards and ergonomic keyboards with split keys are the most common culprits.
He's lucky to be using a mechanical keyboard where popping off the keycaps is trivial, and even luckier to still be alive given that bird doo is toxic.

I'd wager he cleaned the upper surfaces of the keys at least every time the bird pooped on them (and thus avoided direct contact with the droppings), but never popped off the keys to clean underneath them. (I'd have thought that much accumulated filth would have significantly affected the keys' ability to depress, and thus the keyboard's functionality, forcing the issue sooner.)

Mechanical switches do not require 'bottoming-out' to actuate.
