Speaking of which, why is Digital a massive fan girl in Umaverse? I couldn't find IRL stuff related to that.
I think it has to do with Digital's IRL nickname, "hentai." The IRL Digital could basically run in any race no matter what distance, track condition, or whether it was turf or dirt, so he was given the nickname "hentai" but in the sense he was a "deviant" for being able to be good no matter the race conditions.
They just added in the more modern aspect of "hentai" for the Umamusume character lol.

Like most other personality quirks of the girls that were added for "uniqueness" (like Falco being want to be an idol) also Digital IRL is noted to be "swinging" in both sides if I recall.

Also, it started with "hentai", then horse fans really went wild with multiple memetic permutations. These include:
Hentai Horse (変態馬)
Strongest Hentai Horse (最強変態馬)
THE LEGENDARY YAMADA TAE HENTAI HORSE (伝説の変態馬)
THE ULTIMATE HENTAI SUPER HORSE (究極の変態スーパーホース)
...and so on. Piles of them. Naturally people also started joking about him being a pervert (with poor Vodka sometimes being the receiving end). So when Cygames came up with his umagirl version... well, it's tempting low-hanging fruit to also go along.

They also call RL Digital the "dual-expertise horse", or literally "dual-sword user horse". "Dual-sword user" is also Japanese slang for bi, similar to English "swings both ways".
Which is why umagirl Digital kinda swings both ways too. As a futher allusion to this, even her hairdecs are nearly symmetrical (right one is green but it's hard to see), unlike most other umagirls (notable exceptions include Fine Motion, who is intersex IRL, and the various anime-only "renamed" background rival characters).
As for Falco, the RL horse was a noted sandbagger who would go around all over the country to take part in G2/G3 and local regional races. Fans started joking about him being a rockstar or idol going on concert tours.

I still wait and hope to see Digital shocking everyone as she appears and beats them up despite she was only there to "watch" up close.
