The creator needs to just stop with this and move on. First there were 150 pokemon or whatever now there's like 500 plus alternate dimension pokemon and outer space pokemon.
Succesful franchises have this problem. Megaman had several 'ends' that were good for a series, and the creator wanted to move on to at least the next XX. They might let him, but then they'd keep making more games with a new crew in the old universe.
MMX stopped making sense at 5? As I recall. By the time Zero had gotten to the 3rd o4 4th game, X8 and X9 had done enough huddling that it sort of made sense again if you really wanted to believe.
I'd say my main problem with Pokemon is that lately they're starting to really amp up the power of the pokemon. In the first two games, you had powerful pokemon, to be sure, but they tended to be localized event types. Things like thunderstorms, blizzards, and the like. Celebi was capable of time travel, but it was just a guardian of the forest. Then Ruby and Sapphire come along, and suddenly there are these two pokemon that can cause global scale events. Then, in diamond and pearl, to amp it up even further, now we have two pokemon that have dominion over time and space, and can apparently reset the universe. Does anyone else remember when the most powerful pokemon was a hideous genetic experiment, and all pokemon evolved from a little cat-like thing?

Yeah, now we have god giving us judgment. XD By the way can someone translate this picture?
Since its type can change based on what plate it has on, and this one (or this instance for the only one?) seems to have many, if not all, equipped/held, maybe it's too GOD for teh ballz.
What I find most dismaying about the new Pokemon is their designs. We had tinges of it in GSC, but in RSE and DPP, too many feel like shapes and zig-zags slapped together with generic, possibly colored, eyes put somewhere. Ironically, though, Zigzagoon doesn't look too bad, falling under this grouping, though maybe it's only for it wholly being zig-zags, which has a consistency, and that it's shades of brown, so it's less like those brain-trainer things in elementary shool where you make pictures out of polygonal plastic.
I'm sorry, all I hear is A BLOO BLA BLOO BLOO BLOOOO.
1. You're kidding yourself if you think RBY wasn't stuffed full of Pokemon made of generic shapes. Voltorb, Electrode, Diglett, Chansey, Jigglypuff, Weedle, Ekans, Ditto, Oddish, Poliwag...I could go on. Even the iconic Pikachu is guilty of this, with its potato shaped body and stubby arms. Complaining about additional colors is also ridiculous; the only reason the first two sets of Pokemon weren't more colorful was because of hardware limitations in the game itself.
2. Even in RBY, the three legendary birds were tied into the creation mythos, and Mewtwo had a drawn out subplot regarding his origins and escape. Subsequent games, beginning with GSC, merely expanded upon what the first set of games started, fleshing out the story behind the legendaries and the Pokemon world itself. By the time we got to RSE, such expansion were also modeled around new features in the game engine itself (Drizzle/Drought/Air Lock), which was pretty sweet. The vast majority of new legendaries have been really cool; if you can't find something rad about god whales or stratospheric dragons or shape shifting space virii or elemental golems or what have you, I'm prepared to call that a personal failing.
3. I'm sorry, I played my copy of Blue to death too, but the game hasn't aged well at all. Each subsequent game has improved on the model the previous left behind in terms of mechanics and options available.

Likewise. You're taking this way too seriously. Pokemon, regardless of what the hardcore EV-training dumbasses would have you think, is not serious business.
Anyway, many of the newer designs are not all that great in my opinion. In most cases, for the first 252, there was a certain element of design unification for them. This isn't to say it's entirely gone, but the differences between the "older" and the "newer" monsters are striking at times.

EV training isn't hardcore, stop spouting nonsense (you can have a pokemon EV trained in less than 20 battles in some cases with the right circumstances...which are really easy to get in platinum, diamond, pearl thanks to wifi).
IV breeding...now there's something that's impossibly difficult.

Yeah, what is up with that?! First time I heard that... I was like "Waaaaht?". I thought I mistook it as something else, but it was literally Time and Space.
Now there is a pokemon that created Pokemon. =_= my goodness. Why do the people even exist anymore.
It seems like the new pokemon are those puzzle pieces that mysteriously show up in the box, and obviously don't fit.
No, your "opinion" was mostly tearing into other people that are dissatisfied with the direction Pokemon has taken with little tact and an overabundance of cynicism.

It sorta is if you're just playing for fun but that's outside the point; some people just take Pokemon way too seriously.

This rings true to me. Yeah, the older Pokemanz had general shapes to them, but they felt whole with each one. It feels like they're meant to be as they are, with everything balancing and meshing well. They newer ones, though, often feel like scrabbled shapes brought together with haphazard lines of color drawn on (the RSE legendaries are intendedly this way). The new ones just don't mesh well with the old ones and sometimes themselves.
Some that strike out to me are the new evolutions for Magmar and Electrabuzz. Now, those two are already a bit out there in their design (I prefer Magmar, but both seem ready for a piece to be knocked off), but Magmortar and Electrivire highten their squiggle-saturations. Eevee's GSC evolutions, Espeon and Umbreon, look rather alright, with Umb's rings perhaps steering toward modern-gens. The DPP evolutions look pretty good, too, but Glaceon's straight ear lines and diamond-shaped tips are obviously shapes, and Leafeon's leaves are either too detailed and/or have that gonna-flake-off vibe as 'buzz and 'tar.
That's prolly how I'll put it: the lines and shapes are stark in the modern generations. Add that to how bubbly everything became with the GBA's higher tech, and it all seems like a psychotic candy shop. Not to mention RSE's music quality bothers my ears. Really, the restrictions of the GB and GBC did good for Pokemon.

The only reason you think Goldeen or Dragonite is more strongly designed than Carvanha or Metagross is because you grew up with them. Each generation has had their share of weak designs, and if you look at http://urlcut.com/1rqis and scan through any given row vertically, looking objectively, you'll find design has been more or less consistent across over a decade. If you really think every last criticism that's been laid out on this page can't in turn be applied to RBY and GSC, you're kidding yourself.

Does this count as White Devil?

The previous Generations had familiar shapes and were based on familiar objects and animals. With the new Generation, they do indeed look odd and unfitting- by comparison.
Personal view. Some look nice, others don't. I am wondering if they had various designers.
Funny enough, I found the "Fake Shaymin form" to look better than the Official form.
Ah, Tropius and Shedinja are two faves of 3rd gen. With regards to the huge sprite sheet, I'd still say modern gens use more dots/waves/zigzags, especially as paint-on color spotches, than past gens.
