Parkrestaurant Südende
Parkrestaurant Südende was located in the Steglitz district of Berlin. The restaurant was modified from a villa in 1902, which with its ponds quickly became one of the most popular excursion destinations in Berlin. Fireworks, military concerts, dance events, and gondola rides populated the area for many years making it a national attraction.
It is summer 1943, Erika is in her BDM uniform (League Of German Girls) calmly taking a walk in the park on her way to the restaurant, as Johanna sneaks behind her and snatches an apple from her groceries.
"Hey! ... Huh?"
"Finders keepers!"
Erika never met Johanna before she joined the Greifkommando unit, nor would they meet in Parkrestaurant Südende in the summer of 1943, yet according to Thai artist Erica's (users/4759263) vision and his understanding of Erika, he presented us with this lovely work, with both of the characters meeting up in uniforms, this sure is a unique experience.
On June 30, 1939, Parkrestaurant Südende had to close and give way to planned freight railway facilities. these plans were no longer implemented as the war broke out on September 1st. The restaurant was soon demolished by allied strategic bombing in August 1943 and would be reconstructed after the war.
