Context for those who aren't that familiar with Achilles outside of him being invulnerable outside of his heels. So Prince Paris of Troy has snatched away Helen of Argos, the queen of Sparta, after having been promised the most beautiful woman on Earth by Aphrodite if he chose her as the most beautiful goddess during the wedding of Peleus and Thesis, and the Spartans are quite mad about it and start gathering their allies for war against Troy. Well, the Greeks have heard a prophecy that states that unless they have Achilles, son of Peleus, king of Phthia, with them, they'll fail, and thus a group of them, including Odysseus, who had tried to fake having gone mad to avoid going to war, have gone to fetch him. The problem is that Achilles' mother, Thetis, has also heard prophecies about her son, and those prophecies state that he'll die if he goes to Troy. To avoid losing her son, Thesis sends Achilles to the court of the king of Skyros and has him dress up as a girl and pretend being one of the king's daughters; once the Greeks show up, she goes, "Achilles? Oh, I haven't seen him in a while and have absolutely no idea where he is, so you guys just have to fight the Troyans without him.". Well, Odysseus knows that she is good friends with the king of Skyros, and thus the Greeks decide to pay the king a visit and see if they'll find anything there. In the court of Skyros, Odysseus comes up with a clever plan. He states that he'll give the daughters of the king some gifts and presents them with a fine selection of jewelry, musical instruments, and weapons. While most of the daughters are fascinated by jewelry and instruments, one of them is clearly more interested in the weapons, and Odysseus comes to suspect that this daughter is not a woman at all, but rather Achilles in disguise. To confirm his suspicions, Odysseus has other Greeks fake the sounds of an enemy attack on Skyros, which causes Achilles to grab onto the weapons instinctively and reveal his true identity.
