A Lucky Treasure Chest?

A series about a version of my femboy OC Alex, somehow in a fantasy setting where he has become a level 1 healer.
----
Alex was excited to finally explore a dungeon. He was excited by the idea of finding new things, treasure, maybe getting more powerful. After all, every party that Alex approached to join refused him. First they were interested in the cute girl healer wanting to join, but after Alex explained that he was actually a boy and only level one, they just laughed at him.
"What kind of idiot wants to join a party at level 1? At least you're cute, or else we would beat you up for being so arrogant to try to join us." One fighter very rudely teased Alex after being asked to join a party.
After being met with failure a lot, finally one girl came up to Alex as he was sitting alone at a tavern, sad from all the rejection. "There, there, it's OK cute thing. Tell you what, I'll give you some advice. Go south, and there's a dungeon that would be perfect for you to gain a level and find some equipment. Then I can get my party to let you join us, OK? I promise, you will find what you need there." The girl patted Alex's shoulder and hugged him, and left, hiding her snicker behind a hand to make sure Alex couldn't tell that she was holding in laughter.
So here Alex was, in the dungeon. He had been a little nervous at first, but it seemed pretty empty. Some rats made him squeal in fear earlier, but he was happy when he found a treasure chest in the first room. He walked up to it, curious what it would contain.
A new staff? A powerful artifact? After examining it for a minute, the treasure chest trembled.
Then the chest creaked open a little. Tentacles poked out of the chest.
There was a scream, then it was muffled. Then there was a clatter as Alex's staff fell to the ground. The chest was a fake, a mimic, a monster pretending to be a chest to lure the defenseless healer into its range. And now Alex was trapped inside, the chest closed and only slightly squirming as it subdued its new captive.
