That's not an American soldier, that's a Belgium. In the early years of WWI they wore black uniforms with top hats. The Americans always wore khaki or green.

Yes the shotgun was their idea but the gun the Belgian solidier is holding too cartoony to make heads or tails of. It's clearly not the standard issue Mauser so I think Centurii took some liberties. Edit: I cannot spell today.
