“CINDER!!!”
Winter paced the forest frantically as she called out for Cinder, only to be met by silence. It was too silent for her liking, which only caused her panic and trepidation to grow. She should have brought a log of fire with her rushing out to look for Cinder, but once again, her level-headedness seemed to be gone when it came to this woman, which annoyed the hell out of her.
She had lost count of how many times she had shouted Cinder’s name when suddenly, out of the corner of her left eye, she saw a flash of blinding light. Feeling, hopeful that she might find Cinder there, she made her way toward the light.
When Cinder stormed out of the hut, she had expected it to be pitch black outside, considering that it was already nightfall. But instead of pitch darkness, what she had stepped into was totally opposite of what she had expected. She was in a field, surrounded by fireflies... and snowfall? Cinder would be wondering about the logic of snow falling out of a sudden if she wasn't so fascinated by the scene unfolding right in front of her. Dozens and dozens of fireflies lit up the night sky followed by the snow falling all around her, blanketing her with a soft, glowy, warm atmosphere, as bizarre as it sounded. The clashing nature of snowfalls and fireflies, the contradictions; their striking difference shouldn't even work well together, and yet, the coalescence beautified the scenery even more and she couldn't help but be mesmerized by them. Where is this place? It looked different from the forest… like she was in another dimension.
She turned around to look behind her, but the hut was gone. The forest was gone. She turned back to look at the scenery in front of her again; one of the fireflies had flown near her nose. She tried to touch it, and it dissipated into thin air.
“Huh…” she breathed.
Suddenly, something ahead of her caught her eye. She didn’t see it there before, but it was right in front of her now. A light shone down from the sky, beckoning her. She took a few steps forward, intrigued by the light.
Is it a way out of here?
Soon, she was walking towards the light at a fast pace, determined to find out what it was. She was nearing the light when she heard a faint voice calling out her name.
“Cinder!”
She turned around, thinking that the voice sounded familiar. Whatever. Whoever was calling out for her doesn’t matter. All that mattered to her is that she needs to get out of this forsaken place. Away from… away from who?
“CINDER!!!”
The voice was louder this time. And it sounded really really familiar. She had barely turned around when she was knocked onto the ground, away from the light. And in place of the light, was a gigantic creature that they had never seen before, not even in Remnant. The creature was luminescent, with sharp, white fangs and tusks. Its body looked like a mixture of a dragon and a phoenix.
The creature opened its mouth, and the next thing they knew, a loud deafening roar echoed throughout the field. The roar was so loud that Winter fell down to the ground next to Cinder.
The creature was closing in on them, and Cinder found that she could not move. She just stared at the creature, dumbfounded by its sheer size and strength. The creature lifted its front legs, showing off its huge talons, before bringing it down in an attempt to strike both of them.
That got Winter into action.
“RUN!!!” she shouted as she pulled Cinder to her feet. Once they were both up, they turned their backs on the creature and ran for their lives. The creature roared behind them again, but both of them didn’t look back. They kept on running until they could no longer hear the roar behind them. They kept on running until everything was pitch black again. They kept on running until they were back at their hut.
“You FOOL!” Winter yelled angrily when they were both back in their hut, while Cinder was still catching her breath. “Because of your reckless behavior, you almost got us killed!!!”
“Why did you come after me then? Don’t tell me it’s to comfort me,” Cinder jibed back. When Winter didn’t reply, she rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I’m going to bed.” With that, she strode towards the bedroom but was suddenly stopped by Winter’s hand roughly grabbing her arm.
“I’m not done with you yet,” Winter said, her voice cold and stern.
“Let. Go. Of. My. Arm,” Cinder growled in warning without turning around. This only spurred Winter to grab onto her arm harder. “Do you have a death wish?!” Cinder spun around wildly, shaking Winter’s hand off of her. Before Winter could react, she was suddenly shoved onto the wall, one of Cinder’s hands on her neck. “How dare you patronize me!”
Winter’s survival instinct forced her to react fast. She fought back, and though she struggled at first because Cinder was surprisingly strong but in the end, Winter got the upper hand as she was also skillfully trained in hand-to-hand combat. Cinder didn’t know how, but the tables were suddenly turned as she was the one pinned on the wall now.
“LET GO OF ME!”
“NO, YOU LISTEN TO ME!!” Winter bellowed over Cinder’s yells as she got into Cinder’s personal space. Cinder fought to break free, but Winter was stronger than her. In the end, Cinder gave up, glaring indignantly at her.
“Fine. I’m listening,” Cinder huffed and crossed her arms, suddenly becoming hyperaware of how close they had gotten, and Winter’s body heat. The last time they had been this close together was…
No, pull yourself together!
Cinder knew that Winter was going to tell her something serious, but can she help it if Winter was being so effortlessly attractive right now with that stern, angry look of hers?
What Winter really wanted to tell Cinder was how worried she was for her when she ran out of the hut in the middle of the night. But Winter was never good at expressing her real emotions, so what came out of her mouth was “I really hated you.” This brought Cinder back to the present. “Despised you, even,” Winter continued, seemingly oblivious to Cinder getting distracted earlier. “You’re an insolent, insufferable woman with an unhinged attitude. A murderer, a war criminal… who had tried to kill my sister, not once, but twice.”
“You pinned me to the wall just to tell me the stuff I already know about myself?” Cinder mocked, a hint of humor in her voice.
“I dreamed of the day when I get to kill you, you know?” Winter replied, ignoring Cinder’s taunt.
“Well, I guess that makes the two of us then. You’ve had plenty of opportunity to kill me here. Why didn’t you?” Cinder raised her brow challengingly at her nemesis.
Winter narrowed her eyes as she gave her a stern look. “Because I’d rather arrest you first and bring you to justice.”
Cinder scoffed. “I knew your self-righteous ass would try to do the right thing, even though there’s no one else here to witness it. Could very well be your downfall.”
At that, Winter snarled. “As opposed to doing whatever you want without caring about the consequences?”
“It’s called total freedom, you dumbass. You should taste it sometime,” Cinder snarked back smugly, knowing full well that it would strike Winter where it hurt the most. Cinder knew it was a low blow, even for her, especially after Winter had shared with her how miserable her childhood life was.
Without warning, Cinder was shoved against the wall again. “Oh, you think you’re so clever with a few sarcastic remarks, huh? Funny, even? But this is what you do, right?” Winter jabbed her finger angrily at Cinder. “Causing chaos and havoc and laughing at the aftermath without any care in the world! Running out in the middle of the night and putting yourself in danger without caring how I feel if I lose you!!”
Both pairs of eyes widened with shock and realization as soon as Winter blurted the last sentence out. What followed next was a deafening silence as both Maidens tried to process it.
“Wait a min-“ Cinder was the first to break the silence.
“Forget it.” Winter released her grip on Cinder and took a few steps back. She couldn’t believe that she had let Cinder get under her skin to the point of losing her cool and blurting out what she shouldn’t have said out loud. But it was too late, and she couldn’t take it back. Why is Cinder the only one who always managed to push her buttons, Winter will never know. Between getting stuck here and finding her way out to realizing that Cinder might be right that they’re both dead in the afterlife, Winter really didn’t need to have to deal with her complicated feelings for Cinder.
“No, I won’t forget it,” Cinder said firmly and took a few steps toward Winter. “Why can’t you just admit how you feel?!” Cinder didn’t know why, but she was very adamant about not letting this go until they got this sorted out. She was sick and tired of Winter prevaricating this issue. Winter may very well be the most stubborn person Cinder had ever met; no one had ever managed to drive her up the wall and survived this long. Cinder would incinerate that person on the spot for doing this to her. But with her Maiden powers gone and coupled with her confusing feelings for Winter, it made things all the more complicated for her. And Cinder didn’t like this one bit. She wished she could just end this whole thing right now since ending Winter is not even an option for her anymore.
“Because this isn’t easy, alright!?” Winter yelled in frustration. Frustrated that Cinder couldn’t understand her. Frustrated at herself for the internal turmoil that she’s facing. Frustrated that she always had to be the one carrying the burden of facing the consequences; always had to be the responsible one. If only she could easily end it by telling Cinder that she didn’t feel anything for her, but a part of her couldn’t deny this… whatever this is between them any longer. “It’s not easy,” she reiterated, her voice softer this time as she looked at Cinder, hoping that she would understand what she was trying to convey.
Cinder didn’t know how to respond to that. She had never seen Winter looking and sounding so conflicted before. This could be an opening for Cinder, to comfort Winter and gently coax her into accepting her own feelings and acting on them. But comforting someone is such a foreign concept for Cinder, that the only way she knew how to respond is by retaliating.
Closing the distance between them, she glared down at Winter and replied, “And you think this is easy for me? You think I like it? I hated it too! I’m supposed to kill you and take your Maiden powers! Take all the Maiden powers! That was supposed to be my destiny. Not dying young and getting stuck here with you! And now with all those stupid feelings getting in the way, ruining everything! All because of you!!!”
Winter’s gaze hardened. She couldn’t believe that after she had literally confessed to her, all Cinder could still think about is her false destiny. And pinning the fault on her for failing to achieve that said destiny of hers made Winter even angrier. So angry that she failed to realize that Cinder had also revealed her feelings to her. “If you still truly believe that that was your destiny, killing every innocent people to achieve that false destiny of yours…” Winter took an intimidating step toward Cinder, icy blues fixated on those fiery embers, before they slipped down to Cinder’s lips. “I don’t even know why I bother. You really are a very despicable person.”
“Oh, is that why you’re staring at my lips like you want to kiss me now?” Cinder retorted, an amusing grin on her lips, causing Winter to snap her eyes up immediately. Fuck, she didn’t even know that she had been staring at Cinder’s lips.
“You know what? Fuck you,” Winter said lowly, her eyes narrowing dangerously at Cinder.
“You’re too much of a coward to do that,” Cinder countered cleverly and that was the final straw for Winter. The tension finally snapped and before Winter knew it, she was grabbing Cinder roughly by the sides of her face and crashing their lips together.
It caught Cinder off-guard at first, but once it sunk it, she returned the kiss eagerly with as much fervor.
“Ow!” Winter grimaced in pain and pulled away abruptly. “Did you just bite me?” She licked her lips, tasting blood. Her blood.
“That I did,” Cinder said, a mischievous smile playing on her lips, her eyes twinkling.
Winter threw her a menacing glare. “You’re so going to pay for this!” she threatened through gritted teeth as she grabbed ahold of Cinder’s shirt while wiping her mouth with her other hand.
“Or so you’ve said. Are you going to make good on your threat this time?” Cinder taunted as she twirled a strand of Winter’s hair that had come loose from her tight bun.
Winter knew that Cinder was provoking her, and she shouldn’t engage, but Cinder had never looked so damn hot and insufferable with that smirk. Insufferably hot, if there’s ever such a term to describe someone.
Growling, Winter pulled Cinder into her by the fabric of her outfit and captured her lips in a searing kiss. This time, their kiss wasn’t like their first kiss. It wasn’t shy or hesitant. It was rough, filled with unbridled lust and desire, anger, and a certain kind of passion as they fought for power and dominance over the other. Winter completely lost it when she felt Cinder’s tongue snaking out to tease the corner of her lip that she had bitten. So much so that she couldn’t hold back a moan from escaping her throat. She hated how Cinder was so smug about biting her lip. But oh, does she love it as well, with how Cinder was teasing her right now. It frustrated her in the worst and best possible ways. How this one particular person could cause so many conflicting emotions in her is really a mystery. If they weren’t stuck here together, would they even end up like this?
But this is a question for another day as Winter was so immersed in the kiss that all she could think about is that she wanted more. And she knew that Cinder wanted more too, with how hungry her kisses are. Without thinking too much about it, Winter suddenly lifted Cinder up as she trailed her lips down Cinder’s throat, nipping and sucking on the skin there. She didn’t know what came over her to be so daring and impulsive. She had never let her emotions get the better of her; had always managed to keep calm and collected, so what is it about this woman that had always managed to bring out this other side of her?
Cinder yelped in surprise when she was suddenly hoisted up, causing Winter to pause to momentarily check on her.
“Don’t you dare try to back out now,” Cinder warned, glaring at her as she wrapped her thighs tightly around Winter’s waist as if locking her in place in case Winter tried to back out again.
Winter looked up and took in Cinder’s appearance. With her mussed-up hair, swollen lips, and flushed cheeks, it was almost comical that she was trying to be intimidating. “Oh, don’t you worry. You’ll definitely pay for what you’ve done this time,” Winter snarked. With a sly smile, she hoisted Cinder up higher and walked both of them toward the bedroom door, much to Cinder’s surprise and delight at being treated this way and Winter’s core strength.
Cinder had to admit that she swooned just a tiny bit (or so she kept telling herself) whenever Winter put her physical strength to good use, and this was no exception. And the way she was gently placed onto the bed by Winter, she couldn’t help but feel flattered by the care and consideration. Winter was very smooth without even trying, but as soon as Winter lay down next to her, it was a different story. The awkward tension was back, and although Winter was wearing her signature stoic expression, she could see that Winter was suddenly having doubts.
“You’re doing that again,” Cinder pointed out, snapping Winter out of her reverie.
“What?” Winter asked.
“Overthinking,” Cinder replied bluntly. “There are no consequences for you to bear here, and no one else is here to judge you.” She would be damn if she let Winter’s doubts get in between them again. “Except me,” she added, trying to lighten the mood, but it only made Winter more anxious.
If Winter wasn’t so nervous, she would be impressed by Cinder’s ability to see through her. “I wasn’t thinking about that,” Winter replied, shaking her head and closing her eyes.
“Oh yeah? Then what were you thinking about?” Cinder asked, genuinely curious.
“J-just…” Winter uttered shyly, before opening her eyes again and looking away from Cinder’s penetrating gaze. “I’ve never done anything like this before.”
Cinder chortled loudly, causing Winter to glare down at her. “Yeah, very funny,” Winter said sarcastically and started to move away. This almost made Cinder regret laughing at her. Who could blame her, when she found it almost endearing at the almighty confident Winter being shy all of a sudden? Not that Cinder had any experience in doing this either.
“Hey.” Cinder quickly grabbed Winter’s arm, stopping her from moving away. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ve never done anything like this too.”
This seemed to put Winter at ease.
“But it isn’t any different than doing it yourself,” Cinder added with a wicked smirk. “Unless you’re too uptight to even be…” Cinder trailed off when she was met with Winter’s icy glare. She changed her tactic. “You should just do what I always do for any battles. Charge before thinking,” Cinder offered with an amusing grin.
“How is this the same?” Winter countered, suddenly getting serious. “And that is how people lose in a battle, without any proper strategy and pla-mmfff!”
Getting tired of Winter’s rambling, Cinder had decided to take matters into her own hands. Propping herself up from the bed, she grabbed Winter roughly by the face and planted her lips on hers, pushing Winter down onto the bed. She had had enough of them dancing around each other for months. Inexperience be damn; she knew damn well that both of them had an itch that they’d been dying to scratch and she wasn’t about to let Winter’s military mode kill the mood.
Winter was surprised by the sudden kiss at first, but she quickly melted into it as soon as Cinder’s tongue slipped into her mouth. Winter was so lost in the kiss that she didn’t register Cinder’s hands fumbling at her uniform, trying to take them off. Both of them broke apart for a moment as Winter helped Cinder to take her own clothes off. She would make fun of Cinder’s eagerness if she wasn’t that eager herself. Several seconds later, her clothes were discarded onto the floor. Wordlessly, she sat up on the bed and helped Cinder take off her clothes as well. Soon after, both of them were just in their underwear, and Winter couldn’t help but rake her eyes all over Cinder’s body. She had seen Cinder naked before, from afar, but seeing it this up close now doesn’t do her imagination any justice.
As for Cinder, her throat went dry the moment she saw Winter in nothing but her underwear. And Winter’s abs… she wanted nothing more than to roam her fingers all over those delicious-looking abs. She did just that, causing Winter’s breath to hitch in her throat at the soft featherlike touches on her stomach. At that sound, Cinder knew that there was no way they could go slow. Both of them wanted this… had wanted to do this to each other for so long, and any more delays would make her very very angry.
With that in mind, Cinder pushed Winter back onto the bed, and with her body pressed on top of Winter’s, she slipped her hand into Winter’s panties and stroked. Winter moaned loudly at the first contact, still in utter disbelief that they are really doing this. That her first time was with Cinder, of all people. But what she couldn’t fathom was how aroused and ready she was for Cinder, with how easily Cinder slipped her finger into her. Of course, she had gotten herself off before; she wasn’t some prude, but to have someone else doing it to her, to feel another person’s naked body so close to her; that was an entirely different sensation. Winter couldn’t help a strangled moan escaping her lips when she felt Cinder’s thumb caressing her aching, throbbing nub.
Winter’s loud moan and gasps filling the room had Cinder reeling and Winter hadn’t even touched her there yet. And frankly, as drenched as she had gotten her underwear, she felt more pleasure to be the one that was making the Ice Queen a putty in her hand, literally. Being so desired by someone else, and by the Atlas elite, no less… it empowered her, and in turn, aroused her even more. Her body was moving on her own accord as she grind herself on Winter’s thighs, trying to relieve her own desire.
“Fuck, Cinder…” Winter gasped when she felt Cinder’s slickness dripping down her thigh. “You’re so wet.”
Cinder could only hum in agreement, too delirious in her pleasure.
“C-can I touch you?” Winter asked with a shuddering breath.
“Do you even need to ask?” Cinder responded, equally breathless. With the permission granted, Winter wasted no time slipping her hand into Cinder’s panties and started stroking gently. Experimentally.
“Fuck! Right there!” Cinder choked out a needy moan when Winter added her thumb into the mix, massaging her clit. “Harder.”
Winter obliged, and as soon as she increased the pressure and the pace, there was no turning back for both of them. Cinder dug her nails into Winter’s back as she bucked her hips harder against Winter’s fingers, and this in turn caused her to bury her fingers deeper into Winter. Hissing in pain and pleasure as Cinder kept on hitting her at all the right spots, Winter squeezed her eyes shut as she felt herself on the edge of the precipice. Cinder was feeling the same as well, but she wasn’t going to fall first. She was going to make this Atlas elite squirm and come first. However, all of these were thrown out the window when suddenly, she felt Winter pinching her clit. She was a goner the minute she felt Winter slapping her ass, before squeezing it hard, followed by another hard pinch on her clit. Cinder couldn’t take it anymore. The anticipation was driving her crazy. When Winter pushed deeper into her and curled her fingers up at exactly where she needed her the most, that was it. Throwing her head back, she arched her back and came hard, loud moans spilling from her lips. Winter followed almost immediately, arching her back so hard that she almost split her spine, wave after wave of her orgasm washing over her.
Once their shared highs subsided, Cinder removed herself from Winter and plopped down to the side, feeling contented for the first time in a long, long time. Still hazy from the bliss, she closed her eyes and felt a tender kiss on her forehead. Warm, fuzzy feelings spread throughout her body and she would've fallen asleep to these feelings if not for the sudden coldness beside her. She opened her eyes to find Winter sitting up from the bed, getting dressed.
“What are you doing?” she asked incredulously.
“Um… I’ve told you before that you can have the bed all to yourself, so, I’m going to sleep outside,” Winter explained, and Cinder couldn’t help but catch a hint of apprehension in her voice.
Is she for real right now?
While she appreciated the Winter Maiden for being such a gentle-woman and making good on her promise (in more ways than once), this was something she couldn’t accept.
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Cinder sat up and pulled her back down onto the bed.
“You sure?” Winter asked, worrying her bottom lip.
Cinder rolled her eyes. “Winter, we’ve practically fucked. Being near you right now is the least of my annoyance, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“Ok, that’s not what I’m worried about, though,” Winter said, blushing. “I’m more worried about us not getting any sleep if I don’t remove myself from you.”
“Oh,” Cinder said, coming to the realization. It was her turn to blush, but it was gone as soon as a sly smirk appeared on her lips. “Leave it to the Schnee’s cryptic way of saying that you want to get into my pants again. And here I am, thinking that you’re a stick-in-your-ass prude,” the Fall Maiden purred as she ran a finger seductively down Winter’s arms, appreciating the muscles there.
“All those snarky remarks coming out of that smartass mouth of yours, you’ve no idea how wrong you are,” Winter drawled, flipping Cinder over onto the mattress and straddling her, suddenly overcome with desire and lust for the woman underneath her again. And the strong need to prove her wrong. Winter had always prided herself when it comes to making sound decisions based on logic and factual data. Not making some decisions on a whim based on her emotions. But it was getting harder and harder to keep her emotions in check ever since she realized her growing attraction for this sexy, hot villainess.
“Well then, prove it to me how wrong I am, Ice Queen,” Cinder challenged as she flung both her hands over Winter’s shoulder, pulling her down until their faces were merely inches apart. “We’ve got all night.”
