So you know as well. For those who don't, look up "Shuten Douji/Doji". The mythos that surrounds that figure is what Suika and Yugi may or may not be inspired from. In that mythos, you'll find an Ibaraki Douji/Doji. It should explain it all.
Be wary though. At this point, it's all speculation and conjecture. Useless when trying to prove something, but fun to do.
-Suika's name is similar in appearance to that of Shuten Douji, the leader of the oni that lived on Mt. Ooeyama. Shuten Douji is sometimes said to have been abandoned after birth at the foot of Mt. Ibuki, and to have been previously been known as Ibuki Douji.
-Ibaraki Douji is said to have various relationships with Shuten Douji, and is alternately his son, or actually a woman and his lover.
Winterbraid said: It will take much, much more than this to convince me Suika and Ran aren't made for each other.
Was that from the work where Ran was pretending to be Yukari to keep Suika from getting involved while she invaded the moon? That is the only time I have seen Suika and Ran together and Suika comforted Ran.
