Reader-added tags right now are "An 'and yet you won't die' survey" and "Eirin! Call Eirin!"
The survey's all wound up over being wounded:
What have you done that's left you with a big injury? • Blunt trauma • Laceration • Bone fracture • Amputation • Things that make me think, "Glad I survived that."
Things that make me think, "Glad I survived that."
Not sure if they consider big injury but I have at least 3 major injury with 2 of them I had to go to the hospital. 1. Hit some metal thing people was carrying in a plastic bag and had a wound just beside my right eye when I was 6 yr old. 2. Fall down from a swing from jumping too high up and got a cut on my up lip when I was 13. 3. Fall down from the stair in school and badly sprain my right ankle to the point there was a loud crack and there was a guy who told me that god did not forsaken me(It was raining on that day and had trouble walking to the bus stop from going up and down the stairs).
When I was younger I was on a swing however it wasn't very well set up, since when I tried to swing as hard as I could the swing just fell over from all the momentum. I was very lucky at that time, because I fell to the ground while the metal bar of the swing fell centimeters from my head. It may not have been an injury but it could have been much much worse than an injury.
The largest injury I've ever gone through was a bike crash. Left me with a scar on the palm of my left hand. Then again, it was a pretty nasty crash that wrecked both my hands and knees. Lucky for me that it didn't interfere with work later, since it happened during lunch break.
Took me a whole week before it properly healed. (No sick leave, though. We were on a tight schedule.)
Edit: Worth mentioning that I also had a rock sticking out of my face, too. Wasn't a big hole, so that healed fairly quickly compared to my hands.
Worst one I've had was getting stabbed in the arm. As dramatic as that sounds, it's basically just something dumb that ended in an accidental stabbing. Lots of blood happened, but strangely, it didn't hurt that much. Didn't even need stitches, though the scar is permanent.
A piece of firework fell off my foot too. It was basically just an ember and it healed in around a week.
About 4 months ago I was riding my bike to a friend's house. Pupped up on caffeine because of something my aunt gave me, which I didn't know until I became really hyper as I am sensitive to caffeine, and I was peddling at almost 20 mph when I was hit by a truck. The truck was turning left to go to the post office I was passing. Luckily I managed to come out without a broken boke. Not even a hair line fracture.
Had a crash with my bike once that resulted in half a dozen stitches above my right ear as well as a fractured collarbone. Funny thing is, the collarbone was made to heal all on its own, without surgery or even a sling. Worst effect it had on me was slight pain whenever I lifted the arm above shoulder height for a couple of months after, but about four months after the accident, it was as if it had never happened except for a tiny lump on my collarbone where it was fractured and healed on its own that remains to this day.
When I was young, I had a bike. Unlike my previous one, it had quite sharp brakes - so, the first or so time when I applied them, the bike stopped so abruptly I fell over the handlebars and faceplanted, tearing some layer of skin off my nose. No sign remains. I've also splashed hot oil on my finger recently, but that's nearly healed as well.
Eh, I've never had a big injury. No broken bones or anything.
When I was at summer camp, I was wandering around the backstage of the camp theater when I tripped and fell backwards, falling on my butt. Right onto a wooden plank with a huge nail stuck in it. Over ten years later I still have a huge scar square in the middle of my left ass cheek.
Getting hit to the eye with a cue stick, luckily not a direct hit, left a nice bloodshot circular area on my eyeball for a while.
Hitting my jaw, puncturing my lower lip with my teeth in the process.
Bumping my forehead to a sharp edge of a shelf, requiring some stitches.
And failing a balance check, falling on my back with some momentum, on gravely sand, making my back look like I had an encounter with sandpaper.
Most of my lifethreatening situations are me ending in large bodies of water, since I can swim just as well as rocks can, but those leave only emotional scars.
